The Yukon Quest international dogsled race started this morning http://www.yukonquest.org
It is a 1000 mile sled dog race that is similar to the Iditarod but not as well known as it is not as commercial (something about the folks from the Yukon and Fairbanks wanting to keep it "real")...
Tim is off to help at the first checkpoint (Braeburn) overnight tonight so we may have photos for everyone tomorrow. The link below shows a map of the race. The road between Dawson City and Eagle, Alaska (called the top of the world highway) is closed in the winter time. For more photos of that area, check out our alaska vacation blog from last august.
