Whew - we seemed to have survived yet another quick trip out east to Ontario. As usual, we try to combine a number of things to offset the outrageous flight costs from the North.The trip was started by Tim's interest in a medical course for work, then added to by work for Lee and rounded out with it being past due for Hunter to see all the grandparents.
We somehow managed to fit all of it in, have great visits and accomplish some shopping as well. On the shopping front, impulse purchasing can sure become expensive! The concept of being able to buy something that you want when you want it always catches us off guard - compared to the select it and 4-6 weeks later it will show up...We even bought a canoe!
Dorchester was the first stop and the weather was more like summer than spring - the flowers were just coming up, the sun was high in the sky and the heat was on! our 3 days there were well over 20c and we definitely had rosy faces from all of the time outside.
As always, our visits with Grandma Liz and Grandpa Bob were filled with activities and smiles. Grandpa Bob had projects ready for Hunter (birdhouse building) along with canoeing for golf balls, driving the lawn tractor and various "worker man" requirements.
Grandma Liz survived baking with Hunter (it takes alot of focus), puzzles and even got us invited to cousin nathan's 3rd birthday party - a smorgasbord of trucks and Lightning McQueen stuff!
We then headed into Toronto for Tim's course and enjoyed all the fun that comes with hotels - room service, elevators, room keys and the POOL.
Hunter and Mom explored the city on Sunday while Dad was in school and had a great day; subway rides, street car rides, Riverdale Zoo, the park & the bubble lady, the Eaton Centre, blowing bubbles ourselves in Eaton Centre square - quite a busy 6 hours! The weather was amazing - so hot that Hunter ended up just in his pullup as we didn't have shorts with us (Yes, we got quite the looks - however that seemed odd when you considered some of the outfits that the other people were wearing!).
The trip was rounded out with a visit to Grandma Lynne's house in Sturgeon Point and being spoiled by Anne - the maker of all things delicious. The weather turned back into Spring showers however this didn't stop Hunter from outside play - now that he was back in the land of GRASS (he was beyond excited with running on grass) he was not being cooped up inside. On our last day there he even had mittens on but was adamant about being outside to explore and play on the lake shore.
Aunt Patty, Isabella and Great Grandma were also up for our visit and it was great to spend time with all the ladies. Hunter thoroughly enjoyed Bella and was quite disraught when she cried and he thought it was due to something he had done. They shared really well and he was great at getting Bella to smile.
We arrived back last night and there is still snow on the ground here but significantly less than when we left ten days ago. We are hoping for the sun to come out so that we can get the ground thawed by the May long weekend.
