It's the shortest day of the year today and that may not be a big deal to you, but it is a turning point for us Northerners...
The sun rose at 10:09 am this morning and set at 15:47 pm so we had 5 hours and 38 minutes of sunlight - definitely better than places where the sun sets for months!
It was a beautiful but overcast day today. The chinook rolled in on Sunday night and it has been mild all week. Today was -6c but we continue to have daily snow, which means we are definintely well covered for a white christmas.
The mushers are thrilled as the trails have been strong for the last 3 weeks and they are getting solid training runs in. The first races of the season started in Alaska last week and the Quest is on for February 10th starting here in Whitehorse.
