Yesterday was Gareth & Murdoch's birthday party. Gareth is Hunter's best friend at school and Murdoch is his older brother that Hunter also really likes. The party was at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve http://www.yukonwildlife.ca/ for the first part and then moved on to the Takhini HotSprings Campground http://www.takhinihotsprings.yk.ca/campground.html for running around, lunch, cake etc.
The Wildlife Preserve is focused on animals that can be found in the Yukon so we saw lots of Caribou, Bison, Muskox, Mountain Goats and Mountain Sheep. The highlight was a baby Muskox and Baby Mountain Goat that were living together happily.

Summer showed up yesterday for the day so we were motivated to stay outside and play for as long as possible. When all of the other kids left the party (campground) Gareth, Murdoch and Hunter continued to have a great time with all the usual things - sticks, rocks & their imagination.
Eventually the boys exhausted the site resources so the Mom's moved the fun just down the road to the Bean North Cafe http://www.beannorth.com/shop/yukon-wild, an amazing coffee shop surrounded by a lush garden in the middle of the Yukon woods. There was lots of grass, some bigger rocks and a pond for them to play in.

All in all we spent 7 hours yesterday with Gareth and Murdoch and all three boys were happy as clams with not a single melt-down or bump. The sad news is that Hunter will be going to a different school for kindergarten but we will be sure to work in play dates throughout the year to keep these banditos together.
