What a difference a week makes - we are now experiencing chaos from the other extreme... We went from a shivery -30c to +3 in 48 hours. The temps have been sitting at or above zero for the last three days and what a mess it is making.
The poor mushers who just can't catch a break right now. The Yukon Quest starts on February 14th from Whitehorse this year and most of the teams were not able to train during the month long frigid temps and it is now too warm and the trails are disappearing on them. Races are being cancelled and people are worrying.
We (as humans) are enjoying the warmer temps... It's invigorating to not have to pile on multiple layers just to walk out the door!
We were out checking out the creek and having fun in the warm weather - hope to do lots more over the next few days!
