Thanks to Air Canada's spring seat sale we were able to get Grandma Lynne up here for a fun filled long weekend to celebrate Hunter being "star of the week" at school and all the special things that come with that status... She arrived on Thursday afternoon and we headed off for a walk along the river to enjoy the warm sunshine. Hunter brought his scooter to test out and had a great time.
As part of being Star of the Week, you receive the class mascot - Fleur la vache - for the week and need to document everything that you do. This leads to lots of fun and lots of photos to be able to share with the class. Grandma was a good sport and ended up in almost all of the photos!
We enjoyed a yummy dinner at our seasonal restaurant (Klondike Rib & Salmon) where Grandma tried Bison for the first time and declared it "not bad, but I still like a good beef steak better".
Friday Grandma was a classroom helper all day long and got to experience life at Whitehorse Elementary School (http://www.yesnet.yk.ca/schools/wes/) for 6 whole hours! It was also "Crazy Hat day" and "Pizza day" so there was a lot of activity going on.
The true highlight of that day was Tim bringing the ambulance to school to show all the kids. Everyone got to make the sirens go and Tim did a fabulous job of getting the kids involved with a number of the tools on the ambulance. Everyone got a lecture about 911 (not for fun) and an activity book to work on that day.
The rest of our weekend was filled with fun and lots of games.
