Spring Fun at the Summit

During our "summer" week that we had in late April, we managed to head out to the Summit (the peak of the mountain ranges on the way to Skagway Alaska) for some spring sledding.

The sun was shining and warm and the historic train from Skagway (http://www.wpyr.com/) was supposed to be coming through with the snowplow engine to clear the tracks before the train season started. All good reasons to get out and have some fun!

The bulldozer in the top photo comes in to do the heavy lifting for the snow clearing and then the snowplow on the front of the train (big black whirly wheel) removes the rest. On the day that we were out there was a problem and they didn't make it all the way through the white pass (area where photos were taken). They actually had to back the train all the way down the tracks to Whitehorse through the mountains - ACK.

We loaded the trailer with both snowmobiles, lawn chairs, the GT Racer, modified snowboard and lots of snacks and headed on down the road (it's about an hour from home).

Here's Hunter zooming down on the snowboard and both Hunter and Dad shovel racing. Weight seems to be the secret!

As you can see - nothing but fun for everyone!
