We had a 4 hour layover in Vancouver and found a great play zone in the airport. Hunter made a number of new friends and played non-stop for 2 hours, which was great for all. He then crashed for the 2.5 hour flight to Las Vegas, which was also good :)
After a quick, but expensive, shopping trip at REI (equivalent of Mountain Equipment Co-op), we headed off to dinner and fun in an outdoor mall area. They had a live band for saturday and a
fabulous area where kids and families were camped in front, with all the little kids whirling and dancing the night away. Hunter was not shy and jumped right in... Nice to see that the kid from the woods can still do well in an urban setting.We drove from Las Vegas to our hotel (Zion Ponderosa Ranch & Resort) just outside Zion National Park. It is a family centric place and we had a great morning in the playground, on the basketball & tennis courts and zipping around on a "family style" ATV (aka
Grandpa Earl's golf cart with ATV wheels).The afternoon was spent hiking and exploring in Zion itself. Not a great time to try this as it was also nap time, however Tim & I managed to get in some good solo wandering while Hunter hung out in the minivan in a DVD induced "zone".
The scenery is amazing and everything that we hoped for! One could spend weeks here and not see everything. More to explore tomorrow before we head over to Bryce Canyon on Tuesday.
